If you don’t feel like paying, you can also explore the neighboring restaurants, shops and historic sites. San Juan Capistrano is home of the Los Rios Historic District, which is considered the oldest neighborhood in California. Seeing the adobe homes that were built for the workers that helped construct the Mission in the 18th century, you do get a sense that time has not had a lot of effect on this city. San Juan Capistrano does a wonderful job of preserving its heritage for visitors and history buffs to experience.
