OC Pride Representing on Saturday

Get out your rainbow flags and help OC Pride “bust through the Orange Curtain” this Saturday at the Hidden Valley Park in Irvine.

There will be music, food and dancing to celebrate the milestones achieved in the past year (we <3 NY!) and there will be seminars for those wanting to discuss the challenges that still face the LGBT community. Called the “Rainbow Symposium,” this is new to the annual event. Some of the topics include “Answering the Religious Right in Their Own Words” and “Smashing Homophobia 101.”

Those with kids can take advantage of Kid’s Corner, a “smoke and alcohol-free atmosphere” where the little ones can do crafts, play games, and partake in face-painting and balloon animals. There’s also going to be a bounce house and a water balloon battle later in the afternoon.

The festival begins at noon and goes to 10 pm, with tickets ranging from $10 to $75. Parking is $10.
