OC Weekly favorite column “Ask A Mexican” has been adapted as a play and will debut on Off-Broadway in New York next week.

Gustavo Arellano (the column’s creator) and Jamie Castaneda (Artistic Leadership Associate for the Atlantic Theater Company) have worked together to bring the sarcasm, history and humor of the famed column to life for the theater.

The play will have a reading next Friday at the Atlantic Theater Company, which was co-founded by David Mamet (and professed admirer of the column) and William H. Macy.

The play will be part of the Latino Mixfest, which gives Latino-based plays and their playwrights a chance at public readings and workshops.
