Fabio, a Parade and Some Drama: Another Saturday in OC

You can say a lot of things about living in Orange County, except that there’s nothing to do on the weekends. Here’s a random sampling of the events going on today.

Ladies, lock up your moms: Fabio will be at the Whole Foods
in Tustin on Saturday (image via Whole Foods website)
Tustin
Thanks to the OC Weekly for the heads up - Fabio will be at a Whole Foods in Tustin (for reals). On Saturday beginning at noon, Fabio and his mane of glory will be making an appearance at the store to promote his Healthy Planet Whey Protein Powder as well as sign autographs of the jars and take pictures. The romance model/I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter spokesman is 53! Can you believe it? There may be something to his healthy protein powder after all….you can read more about it here.

San Juan Capistrano
The Swallows will be coming home and the city is going to celebrate with their now legendary Swallows' Day Parade that take place on Saturday. It marks the end of a month of celebrations known as the Swallows Festival (or Fiesta de las Golondrinas). The festivities celebrate the swallows that migrate to San Juan Capistrano in the spring and summer.

The parade starts at 11 am on El Camino Real at Ortega Highway, runs along Del Obispo Street to Camino Capistrano, and continues the Mission San Juan Capistrano.

There will also be a Mercado Street Fair that runs from 9 am to 5 pm.

Be prepared for crowds (40,000 are expected to attend!), there’s a shuttle service being offered from 8 am to 5:45 pm for people who park at the Rancho Viejo Road lot or the San Juan Capistrano Community Center. It’s $2 for adults, and free for children 12 and younger. For more information, visit the website for the event.
