If you’re in the area, San Juan Capistrano is having its second Saturday of the month art fair from 10 am to 5 pm. Held in the historic downtown San Juan Capistrano area, the fair showcases artists, craftspeople and musicians from the area and beyond. Get to know the artists who sell wares that range from jewelry to candles to pottery and photographs.
To make it a day of learning, you can take the kids to the Mission San Juan Capistrano, which holds a Living History Day also on the second Saturday of each month. If you don’t feel like paying, you can also explore the neighboring restaurants, shops and historic sites. San Juan Capistrano is home of the Los Rios Historic District, which is considered the oldest neighborhood in California. Seeing the adobe homes that were built for the workers that helped construct the Mission in the 18th century, you do get a sense that time has not had a lot of effect on this city. San Juan Capistrano does a wonderful job of preserving its heritage for visitors and history buffs to experience.
