Trick or Treat, Orange County!

If you're like me, and the glory days of dressing up and going door to door begging for free candy are behind you (or if you understand now that opening your door to a five-year-old ninja is cute, but scary when they're twenty-five), you can still get some free stuff this Halloween. Shout out to Marla Jo Fisher at the Orange County Register, whose OC Deals column has alerted me to many a good deal like these:

Krispy Kreme
The mecca of all things doughnut. Say what you will about Dunkin' Doughnuts, I still love me some Krispy Kreme. Especially when they're free! Show up to your closest store in a costume, and they'll give you a free Halloween or pumpkin spice doughnut. Mmmmm....doughnuts. Oh, and be sure to print out the ad or no doughnut for you!

Hometown Buffet
Because a bottomless plate isn't enough, Hometown Buffet is letting kids eat free after 5 pm. If you can manage to drag your kid away kicking and screaming from their trick or treating, they can eat their weight in food for free, provided they're in costume. It doesn't apply to adults, so don't bother throwing on a kimono over your jeans and saying you're a geisha, you'll only look silly and will still have to pay.

Del Taco
And finally, even if it has nothing to do with Halloween, Del Taco is offering two free chicken soft tacos when you sign up with the Del Taco Raving Fan email club. You'll need to give them your email, birth date, and zip code, but in return you get your tacos, and a premium shake on your birthday! May I suggest the Dulce del Leche Caramel shake? I just had one the other week and omg. It's like I caught a little glimpse of heaven. Thanks to Christian at Orange County Mexican Restaurants for the heads up!

  1. Shakes at Del Taco!? I had no idea. I have to try me one of those.

  2. As far as I know, they've always had shakes, the typical chocolate, vanilla, strawberry. But the Dulce de Leche Caramel shake? It is to die for. Trust.
