Free First Sundays at Bowers Musuem

Easily one of the most beautiful museums in
Orange County (image by The Eyes Have It)
If you're looking for a way to spend your Sunday afternoon, the Bowers Musuem in Santa Ana offers free admission the first Sunday of every month (thanks to the sponsorship of Target).

If you've never visited the museum before, this would be a great opportunity to check it out. Because it's free to the public, there's a lot of families enjoying the outdoors performances, so there's more a sense of picnic than obligatory school trip to museum. Also, it's worth going just to see the museum itself, patterened after a Spanish style mission.

This Sunday, there's going to be an "International Family Festival" which begins at 12 p.m. Held in the courtyard of the musuem, it begins with "Pasione Gitano" (gypsy guitar from Southern Spain), and spans the globe to include Scottish dancing and Korean drumming before ending with Bollywood dance at 3:30 p.m.

Museum hours are from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and include exhibits covering the history of California's inhabitants. It also features exhibits covering China and the South Pacific past.

The Bowers Kidseum is also part of the Target Free First Sundays, and is practically next door, in case your kids aren't too into the cultural thing.
